Bernard Allen TD was re-elected to the Dáil in May 2007 and May 2002. He is Chairperson of the Public Accounts Committee.

He was served asForeign Affairs Spokesperson, October, 2004-September, 2007.
Deputy Allen served as spokesperson on Environment & Local Government from June 2002 to October 2004.


Bernard was first elected to the Dáil in 1981. He was Fine Gael's Front Bench Spokesperson on Tourism, Sport and Recreation from February 2001 - June 2002. Between 1994 and 1997 he was Minister of State at the Departments of Education and Environment with special responsibility for Youth and Sport. Before that, in 1993, Bernard was spokesperson on Social Welfare. From 1987-1988 he was the party's Health spokesperson.

In 1982, he held the post as Environmental Protection spokesman.

Bernard was Alderman of Cork City Council from 1979 - 1995 and was also a member of the Southern Health Board.

He was Lord Mayor of Cork from 1988-1989. Bernard is a member of the Pitch and Putt Union of Ireland and Bol Chumann na hEireann, Golfing Union of Ireland, GAA and the FAI.
